The Void, 2020
The Void deals with a specific modernist narrative
that fuses historical facts with fiction including the Dutch
painter and modernist Theo van Doesburg and the Yugoslav
architect Nikola Dobrović. The concept is inspired by Van
Doesburg’s essay Yugoslavia: Rivalling Influences—Nikola
Dobrović and the Serbian Tradition published in 1930. The
work features the painter appearing at the building of the
former Yugoslav Army Headquarters that was severely damaged
during the NATO bombing and the interior of Van Doesburg –
Rinsemahuis in Drachten, Holland.
